THE GARDENIA Sedona, Arizona

The Gardenia is my favorite of the homes that I designed for Michael's Ranch subdivision (click here to see floor plans for the Gardenia, and Michael's Ranch subdivision information).

I love the form and function of this building. The Gardenia is designed to take views from the back of the building ,via a wall of glass, overhead transoms add to the drama and the views. The style of the home is southwestern contemporary with an entry featuring overhead vegas and glass block.

The residence contains three bedrooms and two bathrooms. This home features a split floor plan, which means that the master suite is on the opposite side of the house, completely separate from the two secondary bedrooms.

The most important feature, that gives such grand feeling of volume to the home, is the large open great room with 10 foot ceilings, the room houses the living area, the dining area and the kitchen, without interruption. This home gives the feeling of quite a larger home, not an inch of wasted space to be found. A double-sided freestanding fireplace gives the understanding of separation between living room and dining room with the kitchen beyond. Intimate dinners beside a roaring fire in the dining room and later conversation beside a fire in the living room provide for a great entertaining home, as do the rear patios, where one may take in the extraordinary red rock mountain views of Sedona!
